What you actually need to cook at a campsite

Outdoor cooking in India needs three things: a burner, fuel that is easy to buy, and a reliable way to light it. Everything on this page runs on the same standard cassette-type butane can — the long flat can sold in most Indian hardware and kirana shops — so you are never hunting for a fuel type that nobody stocks.

That single fuel choice matters more than it sounds. Threaded EN417 screw-on canisters, the kind sold for imported trekking stoves, are hard to find outside a few city outdoor shops and cost far more per gram. Cassette cans are the practical Indian standard, and every ZORACook stove and torch takes them.

Which stove for which trip?

Stove Price Weight/packing Best for
Portable Mini Gas Stove ₹350 Folds flat into a backpack side pocket Trekking, backpacking, solo cooking, hostel and PG rooms
Portable Gas Stove ₹1,099 Hard carry case included Car camping, family trips, home power-cut backup

The short version: if you are carrying it on your back, take the mini stove. If it travels in a car boot and has to cook for three or four people, take the full-size one. Detailed comparison: mini vs portable stove guide. Driving rather than trekking? Our road trip cooking setup guide covers what fits in a car boot, how much fuel a multi-day drive needs, and where it is safe to cook at a highway stop.

How much fuel to pack

One 225g can gives roughly 2–2.5 hours of cooking on a medium flame — less on high, considerably more on a low simmer. As a rough rule for two people cooking two proper meals a day, budget about one can per day and carry one spare. A weekend for two is comfortably covered by three cans.

Our cans hold 225g net fill, above the 220g Indian standard and well above the 180–190g that many cheap unbranded cans contain at the same price — so you get more burn time per can, which is exactly what matters when the nearest shop is an hour away. Fuel on its own lives in butane gas cylinders, from ₹199 for a single can down to ₹133 a can in the 12-pack. Work out your own requirement with the butane burn-time and how-many-cans guide.

Buy the kit together and save

Stoves ship without fuel, so a combo saves you a second order as well as money. Mini stove kits run ₹499 to ₹899 (saving ₹50 to ₹247); full-size stove kits run ₹1,186 to ₹1,695 (saving ₹112 to ₹200). The Kitchen Starter Kit (₹699) goes one step further: mini stove, two 225g cans and a Spark lighter in one box. See every bundle in combo packs.

Lighting it

The full-size stove has a built-in igniter; the mini stove does not. Carry a lighter either way, because igniters fail when damp. The Arc BBQ Lighter (₹189) is flameless and windproof, which is the right tool on an exposed campsite — but it needs a USB charge, so on a multi-day trek the Premium Steel Gas Lighter (₹149) is the safer bet: no battery, no fuel, rated for 10,000+ sparks.

Frequently asked questions

What camping cooking equipment do I need for a first cookout?

A stove, at least two butane cans and a lighter. The cheapest complete setup from ZORACook is the mini stove with two cans at ₹599, plus a ₹149 steel gas lighter.

Can I take butane gas cans on a train or flight in India?

No. Butane canisters are pressurised flammable goods and are not permitted in checked or cabin baggage on flights, and are restricted on trains. Carry the stove and buy fuel at your destination.

How many butane cans should I pack for a camping trip?

One 225g can gives roughly 2 to 2.5 hours of cooking on a medium flame. For two people cooking two proper meals a day, budget about one can per day plus one spare, so a weekend for two is covered by three cans.

Does a butane stove work in cold weather or at altitude?

It weakens below about 5 degrees Celsius because butane stops vaporising readily. This is fine for most Indian conditions, but for winter or high-altitude trips keep the can warm before use.

Is it safe to cook with a butane stove inside a tent?

No. Butane burning in an enclosed space consumes oxygen and can produce carbon monoxide. Cook outside or in a well-ventilated space with real airflow, never in a zipped tent or a closed car.

Do ZORACook camping stoves come with gas included?

No, stoves ship without fuel for safe transport. You can add cans separately or buy a combo pack, which includes the cans and costs less than buying both separately.

Where can I buy a camping stove and butane fuel online in India?

Directly from ZORACook at zoracook.com. The stove, the fuel and the lighter ship together in one parcel to serviceable pin codes across India, so you are not ordering the burner from one seller and the gas from another. Delivery is free and there is no minimum order value.

Can I pay cash on delivery for a camping stove order?

Yes. Cash on delivery is available on every item on this page, and you can also pay online by UPI, card, wallet or net banking if you prefer. There is no cash-on-delivery handling fee and no minimum order value.

How long does delivery take, and is shipping charged?

Shipping is free across India on every order, with no minimum. Orders placed before 2:00 PM IST on a working day are processed the same day. Typical transit is 3 to 5 days across India.

All payment methods incl. cash on delivery · Free delivery across India, no minimum order value · Use butane only in ventilated areas · Keep away from children.
